Pinterest is a social networking site that allows users to quickly view images and then link to the associated website. Used correctly it can be more useful than Instagram to drive a lot of traffic to your website.
In this blog, we will show you how to add the Pinterest “Pin It” or now called the "Save" button to your WordPress site and on the images of your website.
The easiest way to add a Pinterest button to your WordPress site's blog is by using a social sharing plugin. It may be an option in the blog plugin that you have used, but if not we recommend the free plugin "Shared Counts", which allows you to include the Pinterest button as well as other social networks.
Install and activate the plugin. Then go to the Settings - Shared counts, scroll to the Display section and check the “Share Buttons to Display” box. In the dropdown menu choose Pinterest and any others. You can choose the location and styles here as well. Don’t forget to click on the Save button to save your settings.
If you are running a visual site such as photography or fashion, then allow visitors to share your images on Pinterest would be advantageous to your site's traffic. To add the Pinterest Pin it button when someone hovers over your images in WordPress install and activate the Pinterest Pin it Button for Images plugin. Then go to Settings » Pinterest Pin It page and choose where you want to show the “Pin It” button on your WordPress site. You can choose from on single posts, pages, category pages, or everywhere on your site. Make sure you click the Save button to store the settings.
To check it, go to your website and hover your mouse over any image to see the Pinterest “Pin It” button.
