3 Steps for Driving Traffic from Pinterest

Recent research shows that pinterest continues to grow and drive traffic to websites.  Use it as a tool to boost your social media presence and get more visitors.  And the indications are that Pinterest users are in discovery mode, ready to buy products and services and are actively looking for solutions.  55 percent of Pinners are looking for specific products.

But in order to get that website traffic, you need to use the right methods. It won’t help just pinning your content you need to insure the images are irresistable.

Here are three action steps to take:

Use Pin It Buttons On Your Website

Just like any other social media buttons, add a “Pin It” button to your website that will appear on every piece of content with an image. This will allow visitors to share your content on Pinterest that they find interesting. And then their followers will see it and hopefully share it too. This way, your content will gain credibility and popularity.

Make Your Board Easily Searchable

Just creating a board on Pinterest isn’t enough, you need to make it easily searchable. Have a board with the same name  as your website or blog name. Make sure you add a description, taglines and links that tell people what your blog and board are all about. These will make it easier for people or search engines to find your board on Pinterests. Don’t do keyword stuffing (throwing in lots of keywords) if those words don’t make sense.  You don’t want to put off potential visitors and appear spammy.

Improve Engagement

Engagement is a key aspect to drive the traffic to your website. You want to invoke curiosity and gain the viewers attention so that they will click on it and actually go to your website. Do a bit of research into your followers and what images they like and share, and what their interests entail.

An added feature of Pinterest is a Rich Pin. You can use it to add descriptions and specific information to your images to tell people more about the content to which they link. Also make sure that the images that you post are relevant to your website or blog’s niche so that they rank higher in searches and engage the viewers.

Pinterest can be a great source of referral traffic if you implement the methods above.
